The third T20I of the five-match series between India Women's National Cricket Team and England Women's National Cricket Team is all set to commence on July 4 at Kennington Oval in London.
On Thursday, July 3, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed that the skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has suffered a left groin injury, which will keep her out of the third T20I against India, and further scans will determine whether she will be available for the remainder of the series.
"Ccaptain Nat Sciver-Brunt will miss the third Vitality IT20 against India Women at the Kia Oval with a left groin injury. Results of the scan will determine whether Sciver-Brunt is required to miss any more games in the series, with the fourth Vitality IT20 due to take place on Wednesday 9 July at Emirates Old Trafford," ECB said in an official statement.
India leading 2-0 in T20I series
Currently, the Women In Blue are leading by 2-0 in the ongoing T20I series against the Nat Sciver-Brunt-led side. India won the first match by a huge margin of 97 runs at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, handing England their heaviest defeat in the history of T20I cricket.
Then, India won the second T20I by 24 runs at the County Ground in Bristol. Batting first, they posted 181/4 on the board, thanks to Amanjot Kaur (63) and Jemimah Rodrigues (63). With the ball, India did a good job and restricted England to 157/7.
We needed more partnerships - Nat Sciver-Brunt
"We took wickets in this game, we didn't take many wickets in the first game. We needed more partnerships. We didn't adapt quite quickly, Lauren Bell was impressive though, the effort was certainly there (from the team). We have to put confidence on our players, we should let the batters express themselves.
"We needed some partnerships, Tammy (Beaumont) and Amy (Jones) showed the way but we needed another one. (On Beaumont) She has been in brilliant form in domestic cricket, really glad that she has taken confidence from the form she is in. It's not the end, we need to come back with fresh ideas and execute better."
