A WOMAN was arrested in her driveway during a traffic stop involving her mother, and now her family is suing, citing a chilling body cam warning caught on tape.

The shocking encounter, which unfolded with her three kids inside the house, was captured on video.

The incident has sparked two lawsuits against Kentucky State Police.

It happened on July 31, 2024, in Franklin County, Kentucky, approximately sixty miles from Louisville.

According to the body camera footage obtained by NBC local affiliate LEX 18, the traffic stop began when Trooper Myron Jackson pulled over a car for allegedly having expired tags.

The driver, Christina Calvert, pulled into her daughter Christen Johnson’s driveway.

Moments later, Johnson came outside, prompting an immediate command from the trooper.

“Go back inside for me,” Jackson said.

When Johnson said the woman was her mother, the trooper replied, “I understand, but this is my traffic stop, so go back inside.”

The footage showed Johnson calmly telling the trooper she was on her property.

“I’m not going to ask again, so go back inside or you can go to jail,” Jackson replied.

Johnson then retreated inside, but reappeared less than a minute later filming on her phone.

Things escalated quickly from there.

“Okay, I told you to go inside, you are interfering with my traffic stop,” the trooper said.

He warned her, “If you step back outside, you will be arrested. You will not interfere with my traffic stop.

“Go inside the house or I will take you from your kids and take you to jail.”

What the Lawsuit Claims

Christen Johnson was unlawfully arrested while standing on her property. Trooper allegedly used force, twisting her arm and dragging her to the car. Her three kids, ages 2, 7, and 10, were inside the house during the arrest. Lawsuit cites violations of First Amendment rights and false arrest. A second suit accuses KSP of withholding records on the trooper’s conduct.

Johnson continued to question him as he placed her under arrest.

“Over what? Are you serious?” she said while Jackson walked her to the cruiser.

At one point, Johnson dropped to the ground, shouting as her children remained inside the house.

In his arrest citation, Jackson claimed Johnson was “interfering by demanding information pertaining to the stop.”

He wrote her actions were “too much of a distraction and safety concern to continue in this manner.”

In April 2025, a judge dismissed the charges of obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest.

The court found there was no probable cause to support the charges.

Following the dismissal, Johnson filed a lawsuit in federal court.

“Her lawsuit is about vindicating her constitutional rights in an unlawful arrest,” said her attorney, Patrick Brennan.

He said the footage doesn’t show the most distressing part: her three children, ages two, seven, and ten, watching the arrest unfold inside.

“It’s such a scary incident that Kentucky State Police would arrest someone for just being outside of their home and watching them,” Brennan said.

Johnson’s lawsuit claims Trooper Jackson and his supervisor, Sergeant Jason Briscoe, violated her First Amendment rights to record from a safe distance.

It also accuses Jackson of battery and making a false arrest.

A second lawsuit filed in Franklin Circuit Court accused KSP of failing to turn over public records.

Brennan said the agency didn’t provide documents on the trooper’s training, past incidents, or discipline history.

“We sought open records from Kentucky State Police about this trooper, about the supervisor, and looking at maybe some similar events, possibly,” he said.

KSP confirmed an internal probe began in May 2025, once leadership learned of the incident.

“Kentucky State Police is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and morals in service to citizens of Kentucky,” said spokesperson Sherry Bray.

Kentucky State Police didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment by The U.S. Sun.
