A pair of fires broke out Monday evening in the Windsor Severance Fire Rescue District, keeping firefighters from several northern Colorado agencies busy until the sun went down.
Crews from five agencies responded to a restaurant fire in downtown Windsor before 6 p.m., and before they cleared that scene, another fire ignited at a utility pole near U.S. 34 and Weld County Road 17.
“It was a busy evening,” Windsor Severance Battalion Chief Todd Vess said.

The first arrivers put out a second alarm, and units from Eaton, Greeley, Front Range and Loveland responded to aid in getting the fire under control, Vess said.
Units from Greeley and Loveland also backfilled for Windsor Severance firefighters, responding to handful of calls throughout the evening.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Windsor Severance Fire Rescue posted on Facebook asking for photos or videos of the fire.
Main Street was closed from 7th Street to Hollister Lake Road (Weld County Road 19) from 5:45 p.m. until just before 9 p.m., Vess said.
While firefighters were still getting that scene under control, another fire broke out at a utility pole just south of U.S. 34 and west of Weld County Road 17.
A unit from Greeley Fire Station 6, 10603 20th St., was the first to arrive on scene, getting there just before 8 p.m. A unit from Windsor arrived shortly after and the fire was extinguished within a half hour.
Firefighters are unsure of the exact cause but presumed a transformer ignited and caught the utility pole and a small patch of grass on fire.
On lane of eastbound U.S. 34 was closed for just under a half hour while crews were on scene.
No civilians were injured in either fire, Vess said. One firefighter sustained minor injuries responding to the restaurant fire but did not need medical treatment.
