The USA Under-19 basketball team took care of business in its last group stage match of the FIBA U19 World Cup against Cameroon on Tuesday, winning 129-70.

Koa Peat, an Arizona commit from Perry High School in Gilbert, put up 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting in 21 minutes and also grabbed six rebounds. He had a big highlight in the first quarter as he received a pass from Mikel Brown Jr., rolled to the rim and put up a poster.

While he didn’t lead in scoring on Tuesday, he had a plus-minus of 41 and contributed on defense as well.

Peat averaged 16.3 points per game over three games, finishing third behind Brown and AJ Dybansta in the group stage. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds per game, leading the team.

It started close after the first quarter for the USA as they only led by three. After the break, it was all USA.

They went on a 19-0 run to start the second quarter as the bench played a big part in the victory. The USA also controlled the paint with 48 points and from the 3-point line, knocking down 19 of 37 attempts.

Peat and his teammates continue the hunt for gold as part of their redemption tour under Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd. USA, which did not medal in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, awaits its next opponent for the round of 16 on July 2.
