A TRAVELER thought she was going to be detained in her own country after she was given a red slip by a TSA agent.
Manal Al-ansi, who has more than 3,000 followers on TikTok, revealed that she “didn’t know” she needed a REAL ID when going through security.

“The ID you presented is NOT REAL ID-compliant,” read the paper.
“You will need a REAL ID or other acceptable form of identification for your next flight, or you may expect delays.”
Al-ansi explained that she’s been out of the US for a while for so long that she forgot about the REAL ID and had been traveling with just her passport.
She said she was stopped by a TSA agent who informed her that she didn’t have a REAL ID.
Unlike a regular driver’s license or state-issued identification card, a REAL ID meets stricter security requirements and is required for boarding domestic flights.
A way to circumvent the issue is that travelers can use their passports, which are typically only used for international flights.
“I thought I was about to get detained for not having a REAL ID,” Al-ansi wrote in the caption.
Her video received a few comments, including one from someone who asked if Al-ansi made it to her flight.
“Sure did lol just had to agree to an extra TSA check,” she said.
Al-ansi added in the comments that she didn’t have her passport at the time, which she could’ve used instead of presenting her regular ID.
“I should’ve clarified, this was my first time without the passport,” she wrote.
“That’s why I used my license and needed to upgrade to a ‘REAL ID.'”
NO WORRIES
Another person had a similar run-in with the TSA after not having a REAL ID and was given the same red slip.
However, unlike Al-ansi, TikTok user @Shanliz25 doesn’t even have a passport, putting her in a more unique situation.
“Just wanted to let everybody that might be in my situation that it’s really not that bad,” she said in the clip.
She explained that the security line went fine but when it came up to the person who checks IDs, the woman admitted she became a little scared.
“But nothing happened [he] just looked at my ID, gave me something that just puts a big red letter A right there,” she said, crossing over her heart.
She showed off the red slip and said she had to carry it, which made her worry that she was going to be cavity-searched.
However, she said she received a pat-down from the TSA and checked her hands for explosive residue, which she said has never happened before.
“And then it said ‘Good to go,'” the woman said.
She said the situation went smoothly and that she went through the extra security screening just as quickly as she would’ve on any other line.
The woman received about 120 comments, mostly from people who thanked her for sharing her experience.
“I fly out in 2 days and can’t find my birth certificate to even get the REAL ID, so this just made me a little less nervous,’ wrote one person.
Another person said they applied for a REAL ID in March; however, it didn’t come in time for her flight.
“I went through four different airports, and it was no big deal each time, she wrote.
“Each time, I also got the red letter in each airportbut did not have extra pat downs or anything.
