This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint is, John Badgett.
Badgett has been the long time leader of a local nonprofit Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers. After 24 years, he is stepping down as the chairman of the nonprofit. Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers is a tip line that allows people to submit tips about any crimes being investigated. They get about 10 tips per month and many of those have led to arrests. Badgett was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine after retiring from the hospital in 2009 and has continued his work to make our community a better place with Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers
