Sean Strickland caused a regional MMA event to descend into chaos on Sunday night.
The former UFC middleweight champion was in attendance at Tuff-N-Uff 145 in Las Vegas to corner his teammate Miles Hunsinger against Luis Hernandez in a 185lbs clash.
Strickland rushed the cage and rained down punchesIn the second round, Hernandez locked in a standing guillotine choke against the cage.
As he tightened his grip, he stuck his tongue out at Hunslinger’s corner, made up of Strickland and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis.
After forcing the tap, Hernandez stuck his middle finger up at his opposing corner before making crude gestures towards his crotch.
Curtis and Strickland then stormed the cage, and made a beeline for the undefeated fighter.
Strickland landed two punches before being pulled away by the referee, while Curtis grabbed Hernandez by the back of his neck.
The incident could land Strickland in hot water with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), with whom he holds a license.
It remains unclear whether Strickland will face any disciplinary action, although the NSAC have the power to suspend his license as a cornerman and a fighter.
Taking to social media to adress the altercation, Strickland said: “So after the fight, you guys see me corner guys all the time.
“I’m the first one to shake their hand and say ‘I wish you well, on to the next one’.
“But after the fight this guy comes up to me, calls me by name, ‘Strickland’, calls me a b****, says he’s going to f*** me up.

“If I walk down the street, if I leave my house and somebody says that, my soul will not allow that to not go unanswered. I cannot do it, I cannot f***** do it…
“If I could go back, would I just not corner the fight? Would I not put myself in that situation? Yes.
“But I just don’t have the ability to let a man talk to me like that.
“Who I am as a person, I will never allow that. So it is what it is, man.”
Strickland hasn’t fought since February when he lost to Dricus du Plessis for a second time on points at UFC 312.
He is currently 1-2 in his last three fights since shocking the MMA world by snatching the UFC middleweight title from Israel Adesanya in September 2023.
