Vin Diesel has an update on the highly anticipated Fast and the Furious finale — including a potential and unexpected cameo.
Diesel, 57, appeared with Fast costars Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker, one of the brothers of the late Paul Walker, at Fuel Fest on Saturday, June 28, to tease the next installment of the action franchise.
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of ‘Fast and Furious’ [in] April 2027?’” Diesel told attendees, per Variety. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ First, [it is] to bring the franchise back to L.A. [and] the second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”
Paul portrayed Brian in the first seven films until his unexpected death in 2013. It is not clear how Diesel’s Dom would reunite with Brian in light of Paul’s death. (Paul died at the age of 40 following a car crash.)

The Fast movies have not killed off Brian as a way to explain the character’s onscreen absence. Instead, Brian is said to have given up street racing in order to spend time with his wife, Mia (Jordana Brewster), and their children. There were even a few nods to Paul’s character in 2023’s Fast X.
“You will see Brian in the past, you won’t see Brian in the present,” director Louis Leterrier told Total Film at the time. “It’s something that everybody has to be on board with. The Walker family is still very much a part of this franchise. You’ll see how in this movie. It just has to be the right moment, the right tone.”

FuelFest is an annual car show that raises funds for Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW), the nonprofit that Paul founded in 2010 to help individuals respond to natural disasters.
“Tyrese and I, and through FuelFest and through everything we’ve done here, we’ve been able to raise about a half a million dollars to date, so we’re very, very proud of that,” Cody exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2024. “Obviously, that’s a piece of Paul that he left behind that we see as part of his legacy, so it’s an honor to be able to have so much fun and doing something that he would himself enjoy and something that helps to keep that dream alive.”
