Few figures in wrestling have been tested the way one particular villain has.
Now, after a decade in the wilderness, one of the most polarising personalities in WWE history could be on her way back.
Vickie Guerrero has reportedly stated she’s on her way back to WWEWWEAccording to Fightful Select, Vickie Guerrero has told several people in recent weeks that she is poised for a WWE return, stating she’ll be back “in a few weeks.”
While her precise role is still unclear, the report notes that the timing lines up with WWE Evolution, which is expected to take place shortly.
If confirmed, it would mark Guerrero’s first on-screen involvement with WWE since 2018 and her most significant return since she left the company as a regular character all the way back in 2014.
A backstage presence at SmackDown in September 2025 hinted that any bridges that might have been burned had been quietly rebuilt.
That in itself is a huge development and is a far cry from 2019, when Guerrero said publicly that she had been ‘cut off’ by WWE after she appeared on AEW programming — calling matches and later managing Nyla Rose in a three-year run that ended in 2023.
All Elite Wrestling is WWE’s principal competition in the wrestling industry, so her cameos there aren’t likely to have gone down well at the time.
WWE was where she truly made her name, originally appearing in heartbreaking circumstances following the 2005 death of her husband Eddie Guerrero.
Vickie slowly transformed from the grief of her real-life circumstances into one of the most reviled authority figures the company has ever seen – arguably channeling Eddie’s spirit given he, too, took delight in the on-screen darker arts of pro wrestling.
Vickie’s “Excuse me!” catchphrase became a staple of the late-2000s era, and her run as General Manager of SmackDown saw her align with the likes of Edge, Big Show and Dolph Ziggler in storylines that regularly closed shows and drew top-tier reactions.
In the ring, she took more than her fair share of bumps — including being sent into a mud pool by Stephanie McMahon in her WWE ‘farewell’ match.
She even landed something many an accomplished and long-tenured in-ring performer never manages — a win at WrestleMania.
She hit her late husband’s trademark frog splash and pinned Kelly Kelly at ‘Mania’ 26 in 2010 to secure victory for her tag team.
Guerrero was peak villain material in WWE as a manager and authority figureWWEIt was, however, was her commitment to character that made her stand out.
Guerrero never sought to look cool or tough. She leaned into the role of an unlikable authority figure with full force, happy to be jeered out of the building every week.
After leaving WWE full-time in 2014, she briefly worked in healthcare, becoming a certified administrator before her unexpected pivot to AEW, where she remained until mid-2023.
Now, with whispers of a return swirling, fans are left to wonder what role she might play.
Though not a trained wrestler, Guerrero actually battled in over 25 matches in her own rightWWEWWE Evolution takes place at Atlanta, George’s State Farm Arena on July 13th, the women’s-themed show would be a fitting place for Guerrero to re-emerge — especially given her history as one of the few female non-wrestlers to become a central on-screen figure in the PG Era.
The show’s only confirmed match thus far is the NXT Women’s Championship match between champ Jacy Jayne and Jordynne Grace.
No formal announcement has been made by WWE or Guerrero, but for fans who grew up loathing her weekly antics, the idea of that familiar shriek ringing out across the arena once more will be cause enough for excitement.
