Rodeo fans packed the Greeley Stampede Arena on Thursday evening for Day 1 of the PRCA ProRodeo to cheer on competitors in bareback riding, steer wrestling and team roping.

Clayton Moss of Texas started the night off as his neck and body jerked around as he held onto the reins, trying to stay on the horse for 8 seconds.
After all the bucking and rocking, Moss came away with a score of 70.
Randy Farrell and Tucker Carricato, both from Wyoming, were next, but their rides didn’t go as planned. Carricato was awarded a redo ride later in the night, where he scored a 74.
Dean Thompson, a Utah high school wrestling champion, came away with the best ride in the first round with a score of 85.

Children as young as 5 were decked out in their finest rodeo attire as the fans hooted and hollered for them to hold onto their sheep as long as they could.

Some kids didn’t last a second and hit the ground faster than someone could yell “Yeehaw.” Others held on so long that it seemed like they didn’t want to let go of the moment.
The kids and the sheep were then replaced by competitors for steer wrestling. The object is for the rider to wrestle a steer to the ground as quickly as possible. Competitors including Kyler Dick, Tucker Allen and Gavin Soileau put their respective steers in a headlock, eliciting cheers from the crowd.

Allen put his steer to the dirt in 3.9 seconds, good for first place in the first round. Soileau had a time of 3.9 seconds in the second round, which put him in a three-way tie with Dakota Eldridge and Cash Robb.
The first round of team roping saw a three-way tie for first between Brenten Hall and Kaden Profili, Jay Tittel and Cullen Teller and Andrew Ward and Jake Long with a time of 4.9 seconds. Lightning Aguilera and Wyatt Cox placed first in the second round with a time of 4.2 seconds.

Cash Fuesz placed first in the second round of the event with a time of 8.2 seconds.
Kassie Mowry placed first in the first round of barrel racing with a time of 17.05 seconds.
The rodeo continues Saturday, running daily through the finals on Wednesday, July 2.
