ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert remains up through the evening for slow moving thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Flooding and flash flooding are possible, along with some strong wind gusts within the most intense storms. The biggest flood threat will tend to focus in southern Monroe County and northern Livingston Counties through about 8PM, then the storms should weaken and begin to fizzle. If you come across a flooded road, it is best to turn around and find another way.
Evening storms fizzle, but a few more showers and storms are possible Friday night, as we wait for a cold front to arrive. This will happen through the first part of the day Saturday. This means it’ll be warm and humid through the first half of the day, with some more showers and a few storms. The best chance of some heavier downpours within storms or a gusty storm will be east of the Genesee Valley and in the Finger Lakes through early afternoon. Once our front moves through, we’ll dry out and see some nice sun returning. This means the second half of Saturday should be fine for anything you may have planned for outside.
Sunday looks great, with sunshine, seasonably warm air and comfortable humidity levels. We’ll crank up the heat and humidity again on Monday, with an increasing chance of some showers and storms by later afternoon and evening.
