The One Chicago universe continues to lose cast members, with Chicago P.D. saying goodbye to a main character.
Toya Turner announced on Thursday, June 26, that she would not reprise her role as Kiana in season 13.
“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close,” she wrote via Instagram. “This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next.”
Turner, 35, addressed those who supported her during her time on the hit NBC series. (She joined as a main cast member one season prior.)

“To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day,” she added. “It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent. To the ChiHards: thank you for welcoming me, rooting for me, and showing Kiana love.”
Turner concluded: “And to everyone who believes in me: your support means the world. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead.”
Elizabeth Sisson/NBCThere was no specific reason given for Turner’s departure. Deadline reported on Thursday that casting is currently underway for a new female series regular to play a “loose cannon” ATF Task Force officer with a military background.
Showrunner Gwen Sigan previously admitted Turner’s character was a “very different” addition to the show. “She’s been on the force for a few years, so we get to see that she knows her way around,” Sigan told TVLine earlier this year. “She knows what she’s doing.”
Before announcing her exit, Turner shared highlights from her Chicago P.D. experience.
“I had no idea this audition would be the one to bring me home. But it was. This self-tape made me a series regular on Chicago P.D.,” Turner shared via Instagram one week before her departure. “Keep going, actors, the right one really can change your whole life.”
One Chicago’s Most Heartbreaking Exits
Turner is one of many cast members with short-lived experiences in the One Chicago franchise. The fictional universe — made up of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. — has a revolving door of actors who come and go from each show.
Amid concerns from viewers, NBC’s president of program planning, Jeff Bader, stood by the casting decisions.
“Cast comes in, cast goes out,” Bader told TVLine in an interview published in July 2024. “It’s interesting. Because every year there are cast changes, and every year someone asks the same question about what’s going on within the One Chicago universe. But [those shows] just keep going on.”
Bader noted that each of the Chicago shows have remained successful, adding, “We’re thrilled with how the Chicagos do on Wednesday. We have no plans on changing anything on that night.”
