The furious shopper only had to check her receipt to see that the major retailer had overcharged her by nearly $15.

She took her tale to social media, leading to those in the comments calling for Walmart to be investigated.

The post on Facebook said: “Look at your receipt before you leave.

“I was leaving Walmart, thinking a bit of produce had cost too much.

“Pulled over and found this $14.48 charge on my receipt.

“I went back to customer service and they didn’t question my complaint and refunded my cash.

“I didn’t understand and the clerk said “it happens all the time” !!”

shows what the receipt looked like, showing several charges no higher than $2.50.

Under the $14.48 charge, it says “Voided Entry”, but the charge was still put on the receipt.

In the comments, one person said: “Even though it says voided, it was still applied to the bill.

“Hmm? Have them investigated.”

The US Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment, but did not hear back right away.

MORE MYSTERY CHARGES

In another instance of phoney receipt charges, one shopper nearly walked out of a Walmart paying $26 more than they should have.

Once again, the mistake was only caught by the shopper when they read their receipt before leaving the store.

Top 5 receipt checking tips from a lawyer

Camron Dowlatshahi, a Los Angeles attorney, spoke to The U.S. Sun about receipt checks and customer's rights and options when it came to being asked to show your receipt.

There has been a lot of debate around the legality of a retailer asking to see your receipt, but if it is within the store, it is completely legal. “There’s seemingly nothing illegal about that. You’re still on the company’s premises and their reason to do it is to prevent thefts,” Dowlatshahi confirms. However, if they are chasing you out of the store, that changes things, Dowlatshahi said. “Location matters,” he explained. “If you’re outside of the store you’re in the parking lot and they come and start accusing you of theft and that you have to show your receipt, I think that’s a bit of a different situation because now you’re on your way.” While customers are allowed to say no to receipt checks, it may cause issues if you do and the store suspects you of stealing. “You can say no, maybe it creates an unnecessary hassle for yourself because now you may have the police come to your house and follow up,” said Dowlatshahi. If you are being barred from leaving a store because you refused a receipt check, you could have a legal case — but the store must have held you for a long time. “Let’s say it’s for hours, that’s certainly false imprisonment, and they didn’t have any impetus for doing so,” Dowlatshahi explained. “If a customer has been emotionally traumatized by being held for false imprisonment, I would definitely encourage [them] to sue.” “I would say, show your receipt,” he concluded. “It’s just a really simple thing to do. If you didn’t steal anything, it’s relatively simple to do,” the lawyer advised.

said: “I was reviewing my receipt, wondering what I bought. I’m sure you know the feeling.

“But I found a charge on my receipt for something I didn’t purchase; the descriptor said 20×30 (what’s that?).

“This is not the first time this has happened.

“It has happened in our household at least five times now; the line item is generally for something that doesn’t make sense.

“I’m sharing to make you aware.

“I know every dollar counts, and we don’t want to just give away our hard-earned money to Walmart.”

Even more shoppers shared their disbelief that this happened: “Wow! Thanks for sharing your post with us now I’ll be checking my receipts now.”

The US Sun also reached out to Walmart on this story, but has not heard back yet.
