ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The First Alert Weather Team is tracking strong thunderstorms on Friday afternoon and evening with a chance of flash flooding.
Last week, several towns in the Rochester area saw flash flooding that damaged roads, submerged cars, and led to over 100 emergency calls. So, how much rain does it take to create a sudden, localized flood?
It takes about an inch and a half in one hour to start a flood, but some areas are more prone to flooding because of their low-lying landscape. Nate Morris explains in this story.
