Auckland Aces’ rising star Bevon Jacobs is the only uncapped player in a strong squad led by experienced all-rounder Mitchell Santner. Jacobs was first called up in December, but he didn’t get a game against Sri Lanka. Recently, he made his IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians.
In New Zealand’s pace attack, Adam Milne will be joined by the world No. 1 T20I bowler Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, who returned to the squad after recovering from injury, Will O’Rourke, and Zak Foulkes. However, Ben Sears is ruled out of the T20I Tri-Series due to a side injury.
The NZC also confirmed that the pacer Lockie Ferguson has been rested from the Zimbabwe tour to manage his workload, while Kyle Jamieson is awaiting the birth of his child, so he was unavailable for the selection.
Devon Conway dropped from T20I team
Seifert will handle wicketkeeping duties, with Allen as the backup, as Devon Conway and Mitch Hay were dropped from the T20I team. Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, and Michael Bracewell will provide their batting and all-round excellence.
Walter will be supported by Luke Ronchi as the batting coach and Jacob Oram as the bowling coach. James Foster will also rejoin the Kiwi team as the fourth coach.
Rob Walter stated, “I think we’ve got a really strong squad for this tour, and I’m looking forward to getting the team together and getting into the work.”
The upcoming tour will mark the Black Caps’ first white-ball visit to Zimbabwe since 2015, with the action kicking off on July 16 at Harare Sports Club. The final of the T20I Tri-Series will be held on July 26, with the top two teams from the round-robin stage making it through.
