Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Jake McCarthy leaped at the wall and took away a home run in his first MLB game since April 19 on Tuesday.
Chicago White Sox first baseman Ryan Noda sent a deep fly ball to right field which McCarthy, tracked, timed up and snatched on its way over the fence in the second inning at Rate Field.

McCarthy had just come back to the big leagues on Tuesday, filling in for Corbin Carroll, who landed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured wrist.
The outfielder was optioned after a difficult start to the season offensively and has spent the last two months playing for Triple-A Reno. McCarthy is positioned to play a lot in Carroll’s absence.
The last time McCarthy robbed a potential home run was in July 2024, when he made a game-saving leaping catch at the wall on a deep fly ball from Atlanta’s Matt Olson.
Catch the rest of Tuesday’s game on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app.
