Andy Goldstein has urged Manchester United to replace Andre Onana with an England international.
The Red Devils have shown interest in signing a new goalkeeper this summer.
Long-term target Zion Suzuki has been scouted by the club as he continues to impress for Italian side Parma.
However, United have now been told to swoop for Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale.
The 27-year-old has been made available for loan by the relegated outfit.
It comes as he eyes a return to the Three Lions squad in time for next summer’s World Cup.
Rangers and Galatasaray have already emerged as candidates to sign the former Arsenal man.
Goldstein is keen to see his club make a move for Ramsdale, though, as an alternative to Onana.
Speaking on Drive, the talkSPORT co-host explained: “I think there’s a whole host of clubs in the Premier League that could easily make him their number one.
“In no particular order, my club (United), honestly I would rather have Aaron Ramsdale than Onana.
“Spurs, I think he’s better than Vicario. Chelsea, crying out for a goalkeeper. West Ham. Newcastle, I’ve put Newcastle in as well.”
Ramsdale made 30 Premier League appearances for the Saints last season following his arrival.

Southampton set a new record for the earliest relegation in Premier League history at 30 matches.
As well as being the club’s highest earner, Ramsdale also has three years remaining on his deal.
Onana is also under contract until 2028, having joined United from Inter Milan two years ago.
Last season saw the Cameroon international make 50 appearances across all compeitions.
In those matches, he kept 11 clean sheets and conceded a total of 65 goals.
Despite criticism of Onana, he was recently backed by United legend Edwin van der Sar.
The Dutch icon told talkSPORT: “I’ve known him already for a long time. He spent four or five years at Ajax. I trained with him and saw him coming.
“He has great strengths. He’s athletic. He has good reaction saves. Good with his feet and everything. I’m sure he’s going to get over it.
“Sometimes it’s not easy. Sometimes your performances or the pressure there is.
“But I’ve seen him play for Ajax, for Inter, Champions League finals. I’m sure he’s going to be fine for next season.
“I think there are more areas where United should see if you can have a better player, a different player.
“But I don’t think the goalkeeping situation needs to be addressed now.”
Onana may also benefit from less matches next season, with United not in Europe after finishing 15th last term.
