Cher‘s son Elijah Blue Allman has returned home from the hospital following his reported drug overdose.
TMZ was first to report on Sunday, June 22, that Allman, 48, was released “mid-week” after being rushed to a Southern California hospital earlier this month. People also confirmed that Allman is no longer at the facility. (Us Weekly has reached out to Cher’s representative for comment.)
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department previously confirmed to Us that deputies “responded to a residence in Landers for a male subject acting erratically” on June 14 at approximately 1:25 p.m. local time. “When deputies arrived, Elijah Allman, 48, was being evaluated by emergency medical personnel. Deputies located drugs inside the home, and Allman was transported to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing,” a statement from the department continued.
Following Allman’s hospitalization, his estranged wife, Marieangela King Allman, spoke about his “inner struggles” in a statement to People.

“While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves,” she said. “Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles — but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat.”
Marieangela, who filed for divorce from Elijah in April after 11 years of marriage, continued: “Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose. I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him. My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
Elijah — the son of Cher and the late Gregg Allman — tied the knot with Marieangela in 2013. He initially filed for divorce in 2021, but the petition was later dismissed. In her own divorce filing submitted earlier this year, Marieangela listed the pair’s date of separation as March 31.
“We had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with memories I’ll always cherish,” she told TMZ in April. “I know we’ll remain friends, and Elijah will always hold a special place in my heart. As we turn the page to this next chapter, we kindly ask for privacy and truly appreciate your understanding.”
Before his hospitalization, Cher filed for a temporary conservatorship over her son’s estate in December 2023 due to his alleged substance abuse and concerns over his mental health. Cher voluntarily dismissed her petition in September 2024 after the duo reached a private agreement.

Elijah has previously been candid about his struggles in the public eye. In a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he reflected on experimenting with drugs as a young child. He began with weed and ecstasy before moving on to other substances.
“I started with drugs around the same time that we all did, around 11. I mean, it’s just what you did, it’s just what everybody did,” he said at the time. “I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past, and that’s when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know, heroin and opiates.”
Elijah remembered facing “some close calls” during his periods of substance abuse. “I always kind of kept it a little bit safe, but you never can do that,” he said.
