Body found in Larimer County lake believed to be local missing person ...Middle East

A body found Sunday morning in a northern Colorado lake is believed to be a missing person from Larimer County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Watson Lake was temporarily closed Sunday as crews worked to recover the body, which has not been publicly identified by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The lake has since reopened.

The victim’s cause of death also remains under investigation, sheriff’s officials said in the release.

While the body has not been identified, Larimer County investigators believe it’s related to the case of missing Fort Collins resident Larry Baker, agency spokesperson Ali Adams said.

Baker’s car was found parked at the Watson Lake State Wildlife Area, northwest of Fort Collins near Bellvue, after he left his home on June 16 and didn’t return, sheriff’s officials said.

Baker, an 80-year-old avid fisherman, was reported missing on Tuesday, the day after he left.

More than 60 people — including tracking dogs, drones, ground crews, and scuba divers — searched the wildlife area for multiple days, but couldn’t find him.

Sheriff’s officials previously said there was no indication of foul play in Baker’s disappearance.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office did not respond to requests for comment Sunday evening.
