Enzo Biochem offers a range of services, including diagnostics.
The firm is paying to settle claims that it failed to prevent a data breach in 2023.
Personal data of patients was allegedly compromised in the leak.
Class members claim that Enzo Biochem failed to take reasonable cyber-security measures to protect the data.
Plaintiffs say that they suffered damages as a result of the leak – including the risk of identity theft and fraud.
The company is not admitting any wrongdoing by settling the case.
Anyone whose personal data was potentially compromised and who received a letter from Enzo Biochem informing them of such could benefit from the settlement.
Under the terms, plaintiffs can receive up to $10,000 for documented losses relating to the breach.
This can include unrefunded fraudulent charges, costs arising from identity theft, credit monitoring costs, computer software expenses and others.
Those who did not experience documented damages can instead choose to receive a cash payment.
This will be a pro rata share of the net settlement fund, after the documented losses claims have been covered.
No documents are required for this latter option.
Class members claiming for either kind of losses will also be eligible for two years of free credit monitoring and insurance services.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by June 23, 2025.
Meanwhile, eligible Apple customers could receive cash from a separate settlement case.
This suit alleges that the tech company recorded confidential or private communications from current or former owners or purchasers of Siri Devices.
It’s also alleged that while Apple obtained the users’ information, it was then shared with third parties due to an “unintended Siri activation,” according to the settlement website.
The claims alleged are a violation of consumer protection laws and privacy laws.
However, Apple denies all of the allegations and that it did anything improper or unlawful despite settling.
