FARMINGTON, N.Y. — We have an update on a petition to keep a man behind bars after he was convicted of killing and raping a Farmington girl in the 1980s.
The petition to deny parole to Gregory Flint has 9,500 signatures. He murdered 8-year-old Staci Ackerman in her apartment in 1986 and, a year later, was sentenced to 39 years to life in prison.
News10NBC spoke with Ackerman’s mother and father, calling for the community to sign the petition. The family is pushing to get 10,000 signatures before Flint’s first parole hearing next month. You can see the petition on Change.org.
Ontario County District Attorney James Ritts said: “I urge anyone who believes in protecting our children and honoring Staci’s memory to sign and share this petition. Let’s make it clear that flint belongs exactly where he is, behind bars.”
