The Group 1 Coronation Stakes is the showpiece of day four of Royal Ascot 2025. The French 1000 Guineas winner Zarigana travels over to bolster her reputation, but how will she cope at Ascot against some exciting fillies?
Before we get onto the main event on day four of Royal Ascot, we have six supporting races that promise to deliver more drama to what has already been a Royal Ascot to remember.

2:30 Group 2 Albany Stakes– 6f
A 6f dash for the cash and a tough one at that gets us underway on day four of Royal Ascot 2025. Balantina was well supported in the betting on her debut at the Curragh, but missing the break put her on the back foot but she ran on well late on.
The winner, Andab, has gone on to finish fourth in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes on Tuesday, which has already given her form a boost. She made no mistake on her second start when making all at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend, dominating from the start. She has a big part to play here, as does the Joseph O’Brien-trained Green Sense, who was last seen chasing home the talented Lady Iman in a Group 3 at Naas.
However, it’s the third place from that race that interests me the most. SIGNORA was thrust into a Group 3 for her debut, and despite her market weakness, she ran a race full of promise. She was eventually only beaten over two lengths, but now, with that experience under her belt, you can expect to see a much more polished performance here. Even against some very talented fillies, Signora could end up being a cut above her rivals.

3:05 Group 1 Commonwealth Cup – 6f
This looks like a good opportunity for SHADOW OF LIGHT to get off the mark this season. This hugely talented Lope De Vega comes here on the back of a third in the 2000 Guineas, a race that has had it form franked by the runner up Field Of Gold going on to win the Irish 2000 Guineas, and then a breathtaking display to win the St James’s Palace Stakes here on Tuesday.
Shadow Of Light won a Group 1 over 6f by four lengths last season, so the drop back in distance is a positive here. Granted a uncomplicated passage, Shadow Of Light will prove hard to beat. Each way alternatives come from Big Mojo who was a good winner over course and distance in April, and Ger Lyons, Babouche.

Hand Of God was bitterly disappointing when he was sent off the well-backed 13/8 favourite on his return from a gelding operation. Even with the possibility that he needed the comeback run, there were very few positives to take away from that run and hopes of a rival rest on the step up in trip.
Johnny Murtagh’s Siege Of Troy is a prime candidate for a race like this and has been overlooked in the betting. He has run two good races this season, and the drop back in class can see him be competitive off his current mark. However, this may be best left to last season’s fourth ETHICAL DIAMOND.
This 143-rated hurdler returns to the flat on a mark of 96, just two pounds higher than last season. He was sent off 7/4 for last season’s renewal, only to overrace and fade late on. Based on his hurdles run this season, Ethical Diamond seems to have matured and is a lot more tractable during his races. If he can race without excreting too much energy early on, there is no doubt that this Willie Mullins-trained gelding can cash in on his current flat mark.

Having been supplemented for this, Falakeyah brings a new dimension to the lineup. There is no telling how good she could be, but she has looked a filly with an abundance of talent. The French 2000 Guineas winner Zarigana will be a tough nut to crack if she handles the underfoot conditions. She was given the French 1000 Guineas win in the steward’s room due to interference, which also affected the chances of EXACTLY.
There isn’t much between them on their run in France, and given that Ryan Moore had to ease up on Exactly, there is every chance that she can get a lot closer today. Zarigana is currently 2/1, whereas Exactly is as big as 7/1, making her the clear value pick. Aidan O’Brien hasn’t won this since 2017, but he has every chance of getting back in the winner’s enclosure with Exactly.
One at a price who looks well capable of outrunning her odds is Flight. The 1000 Guineas runner-up can be forgiven for her run in the Irish equivalent, as the ground would have gone against her on the day. Now, back on her favourited underfoot conditions, she can’t be overlooked.

Another ‘take your pick’ race from Royal Ascot. Silver Ghost comes in here on top of her game after two convincing wins. She steps up a furlong in trip today, and if that brings about more improvement, there is no reason why she can’t place, at worst.
Supermodel has been well-backed over the past few hours, and it’s easy to see why. She looked good when winning at Nottingham despite a slow start. However, a chance is taken with the topweight TABITI.
The Juddmonte filly is two from three in her career, with her only defeat coming in Group 1 company. She was well beaten in the end at Newmarket, however, she was well backed into 11/2 on the day. Should you forgive her for that run, then she can show that a mark of 101 is not beyond her on her first run in a handicap. Other to take note of are Betty Clover, Oolong Poobong, and Ryka.

5:35 Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes – 1m4f
This year’s renewal of the King Edward VII Stakes is not the strongest of contests. Ballydoyle decided to skip Epsom with Puppet Master despite him winning the Lingfield trail. He looks certain to improve from that experience; however, there is one standout for me, and that is AMILOC.
This three-year-old gelding has yet to taste defeat in four career starts and looked better than ever when stepped up to 1m3f last time out. He does have his quicks, and they were on display in his previous run, but when he switches on, he is a seriously talented gelding.
The step up in trip will bring out even more improvement from Amiloc, and this exciting son of Postponed can prove very hard to beat. Convergent, who was third to the Derby first and second in Chester, is worth a second look at his current odds.
AMILOC

A difficult race to end proceedings on day four of Royal Ascot, as 31 sprinters got flat to the max to try to claim a famous win at Royal Ascot. The Epsom Dash winner Stormy Impact looks to back up her win off a 5lb higher mark, and should she get a strong pace to aim at, she will go close to doing so.
Hammer The Hammer has racked up a hat-trick of wins and has done so impressively, but how will he cope with the drop back to 5f in a race of this nature? One who is drawn near Hammer The Hammer, and has already shown blistering speed is RUBY’S PROFIT. This three-year-old sprinter was backed like defeat was out of the question in the Epsom Dash, but for one reason or another, she wasn’t at her best.
Now, back on a more conventional track, it’s hard to see her not being bang there if she can replicate her front-running win at Goodwood. She is drawn well, and if she gets into a rhythm, they may find it hard to catch her. Bodhi Bear and Mr Lightside are the ones who will appreciate a fast pace and will be closing in on the leaders fast and late.
