CVS has been accused of “playing games with people’s prescriptions” after giving him less pills than he needed.
The pharmacy chain is also being hit with claims it failed to properly record the admitted slip up with the patient’s insurance provider.
GettyCVS has been accused of “playing games with people’s prescriptions” after giving him less pills than he needed[/caption]CVS has been hit with damning allegations that it failed to properly provide the adequate amount of pills in a prescription.
In a complaint posted to the social media platform X, the customer said that CVS gave him 15 fewer pills than he needed.
The post from Wednesday, from someone called Dave, said: “@cvspharmacy playing games with people’s prescriptions.
“I was shorted 15 last month. Called Friday and the pharmacy said “ we gave you all 45 pills”.
“Today they stated they shorted me 15 pills last month but never noted it and billed my insurance for the full 45.”
This complaint alleges that CVS failed to retroactively correct its own mistake, failing to notify the insurance company there was a mistake.
Instead, it acknowledged the mistake but issued a bill for the full 45 pills, even though only 30 were given out.
CVS did respond to the post, but only wrote a stanarrd issue reply.
The pharmacy company responded: “Hi Dave, we understand how this situation can be upsetting.
“To better assist you, can you please send us a private message confirming your full name, email, phone number, and the CVS store location?”
Dave then confirmed that he had sent the message to carry on the complaint process.
The irritated customer simply wrote back: “Sent.”
It is not known how much further the exchange went after this, however.
The US Sun has reached out to CVS for an update.
CVS closes 900 stores
CVS Health is finishing up its three-year plan to close 900 stores.
CEO Karen Lynch said it has shut down 851 so far, The Associated Press reported in August 2024.
The company announced the plan in November 2021, saying that the closures would lead to a retail presence that ensures it has the “right kinds of stores in the right locations for consumers and for the business,” per CNN.
The shutdowns amount to almost 10% of CVS’s footprint, in response to the shifting of “consumer buying patterns.”
The closures are part of a wider change in strategy of the company’s almost 10,000 locations.
Some stores have been removed to include more health services, such as primary care, and an “enhanced version” of CVS’s HealthHub layout.
“We remain focused on the competitive advantage provided by our presence in thousands of communities across the country, which complements our rapidly expanding digital presence,” Lynch said in 2021.
The shutdowns cost the company approximately $1 billion dollars in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to CNN.
MANIPULATIVE TEXT
In another customer complaint, CVS has been slammed for a mass text sent to its customers.
CVS sent out a mass alert to customers in Louisiana claiming a piece of legislation that would ban pharmacy benefit managers from owning pharmacies.
The chain wants to stop big companies from buying out local pharmacies, according to supporters of the backlash.
CVS also claimed the bill would force them to close its 119 locations in the state, which would impact a million patients.
The text said: “Last minute legislation in Louisiana threatens to close your CVS Pharmacy — your medication cost may go up and your pharmacist may lose their job.”
But lawmakers have accused CVS of using fear-mongering tactics to get people on side.
Baton Rouge Representative Dixon McMakin, told The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate: “It is about time something in this building we have done tells a national industry we’re not going to stand for it anymore.
“No we’re not, you liars. Quit being liars. Quit using scare tactics.”
McMakin said that some of the CVS messages sent out to Louisiana citizens claimed lawmakers were threatening to shut down pharmacies in the state.
