We look ahead to this Group C match at the 2025 Club World Cup with our Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors prediction and preview. Can Bayern lay down another big win?
Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Stats: The Key Insights
The Opta supercomputer makes Bayern Munich heavy favourites to pick up their second win of the tournament, with the German champions winning 76.5% of simulations. Bayern’s 10-0 demolition of Auckland City on Matchday 1 was the biggest win in the history of the Club World Cup. Bayern and Boca Juniors have met once before in their history, with the German side winning 1-0 in the 2001 Intercontinental Cup.Fresh off the back of dismantling Auckland City 10-0 in their opening game of the 2025 Club World Cup, Bayern Munich will be favourites to make it two wins from two when they take on Boca Juniors at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The Bavarians have a 76.5% chance of beating their Argentine opponents on Saturday, but will expect a far sterner test than the one they received from the New Zealanders in their opening game.
Auckland City, ranked 5,070th in the world in the Opta Power Rankings at the time of writing, offered very little challenge for Vincent Kompany’s men, attempting just one shot across the entire 90 minutes. Bayern had 31 in total and registered 4.3 expected goals.
Jamal Musiala came off the bench to score a 17-minute hat-trick, while Kingsley Coman, Thomas Müller and Michael Olise all scored twice in a 10-0 rout, the biggest margin of victory in the history of the Club World Cup.
Bayern’s win extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches, with the club winning five of their past six games.
Boca Juniors and Benfica played out a fiery 2-2 draw on Monday. Ander Herrera and Nicolás Figal saw red for Boca, while Andrea Belotti was also sent off for the Portuguese giants.
Boca went 2-0 up thanks to first-half goals from Miguel Merentiel and Rodrigo Battaglia, but then let Benfica back into the game. Goals from Ángel Di María and Nicolás Otamendi earned Bruno Lage’s side a point.
Given Herrera sustained an injury and then was subsequently sent off, his replacement Tomás Belmonte could well start against Bayern. He impressed after coming on against Benfica, leading all Boca Juniors players in passes (26/31) and chances created (3), while winning possession five times, second only to Lautaro Blanco (8).
Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Prediction
The Opta supercomputer backs Bayern to make it two wins from two in Group C. They beat Boca Juniors in 76.5% of the 10,000 pre-match simulations, with the Argentines only successful in 9.1%. The remaining 14.4% of sims ended in a draw.
Following MD 1, Bayern (91.6%) are understandably favourites to progress through Group C and head into the last 16, ahead of Benfica (74.7%). Boca are third favourites to progress (33.7%), though that is still a far greater chance than Auckland City’s measly 0.04%.
