When will benefits be paid in July?
Benefits payments are usually made straight to the bank, building society or credit union account of the claimant.
In Northern Ireland, benefit payments are administered by the region’s Department for Communities, and in the event of a bank holiday, payments are also made on the last working day before a bank holiday.
The Twelfth of July is marked in Northern Ireland in celebration of the Battle of the Boyne (Orangemen’s Day) and is a public holiday. But as the 12th falls on a Saturday this year, the bank holiday will transfer to the following Monday.
It means that for residents in Northern Ireland benefit payments which are due on Monday 14 July are now likely to be paid on Friday 11 July.
