Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen opined that India cricket team should consider themselves very lucky for playing a series in the UK without having to face Stuart Broad or James Anderson. His remarks come ahead of the 1st Test which is scheduled to begin on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. Ahead of the start of the new WTC cycle, KP revealed that should be India’s mantra in order to win the series.

KP gives India some tips ahead of England series

In a video shared by Delhi Capitals on social media platform X, Pietersen said that factors that mattered in London included the Duke ball, how it will swing, the overhead conditions and how the surface behaves. He opined that in that context, India should consider themselves very lucky since neither Broad or Anderson were playing in the series.

“There’s a lot of chat when you go to London about the swinging ball, the Duke ball, the conditions, the overhead conditions, the surface and what’s the wicket going to do. But I think where India should count themselves very lucky is there is no Broad or Anderson. So, it’ll be a young bowling line-up,” Pietersen noted.

KP noted that this would be the first time in many years that England would be playing a series at home with the veteran duo. He sad that they key for the Indian batters would be to ensure that they bat for long enough.

“If they (India) bat well in England, I think they can really put up a good test against this England side. So, from an Indian perspective, the batters should be licking their lips and saying ‘let’s go bat for long’. If they bat long, they can do well,” Pietersen added.
