Saltyface's Tanning Water Is So Good, I Considered Gatekeeping It ...Middle East

I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that you're going to want to throw out your self tanner after reading this. But the good news is that you're going to want to replace it with a product that is much, much better than whatever you're using. Trust me. I tan quickly, easily, and well - and even when I'm not in the sun often, I maintain a bit of color year-round. However, I never put my face in the sun. I wear layers upon layers of sunscreen (all over my body, but my face especially), as well as a hat that would rival those at the Kentucky Derby. God forbid a girl wants to protect herself from wrinkles. The only issue here is that I end up with a very tan body and a pale face. To keep everything looking even, I use self-tanners on my face and neck.

I've been using the same brand for years, but last year I was sucked into trying Saltyface after seeing numerous videos on my TikTok feed of the brand's Tanning Water ($44). What sold me was the fact that it was being touted as a self-tanning product safe for acne-prone skin. I've been struggling with hormonal acne for years now, and I even take an oral medication to combat it.

I've been using the product for over six months now, and I'm officially a convert, which is putting it lightly. I've since gotten all of my friends on the Saltyface train. I'll put it this way: if the tanning water had its own cult, I would be the first member. It's that good. Keep scrolling to read my full review and find out why it's worth it.

About the Saltyface Tanning Water

This product is a gradual tanning water made for sensitive skin. It comes in two shades: light to medium and medium to dark. The key ingredients include organic sugar beet, cucumber and marshmallow root to hydrate, and calendula flower to plump skin. It's vegan and cruelty-free.

What I Like About the Saltyface Tanning Water

Where do I begin? I genuinely fell in love with this product the first time I tried it. The application process was easy - I just spritzed it on a brush and applied it directly to my face. As someone with acne-prone skin, I was extremely worried that it was going to break me out, but I've been using it for six months now with zero issues.

It goes on clear, which means I can apply it at any time of the day. If I want to wear it overnight I don't have to worry about it rubbing off on my pillowcases; if I want to wear it during the day, I can even apply makeup on top of it once it's dried down.

It doesn't have a gross smell, and it leaves my face with the best, most natural bronze ever. People always ask me about my tan whenever I use this product, and I always feel like I can forgo face makeup whenever I'm wearing it.

It doesn't fade in a splotchy way whatsoever, and if I need to remove it quickly I can easily use an exfoliating pad to remove any excess product and start fresh.

How to Use the Saltyface Tanning Water

There are two main ways you can apply this product after applying moisturizer. The first is directly with your hands. The brand recommends dispensing one to two full droppers in your hands and applying it to your face and ears. It also recommends blending the product into your hairline. Next, take another one to two droppers and apply to your neck and chest. After, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

If you opt to purchase the Basic Tanning Set (62), you'll get a spray nozzle for the tanner, as well as a brush. I prefer to apply my tanner with this method. I spritz two pumps on the brush, then apply it to my entire face. From there, I typically do a few more sprays on the areas of my face that I want to contour, like my forehead, my nose, and my cheekbones.

The color will start to develop after four hours, but it will continue to develop for up to 24 hours after application. Usually, I start out by exfoliating my face, then applying my skin-care products, then the tanner. I wear it both during the day and at night while I sleep. It goes on clear, so it's also easy to wear makeup on top of it.

What to Consider Before Trying the Saltyface Tanning Water

One thing to note about this product is that it's a clear tanning formula. If you're used to bronzing formulas that show a guide color, just know that you won't be able to see where exactly you're applying this one. You kind of just have to go with it. I haven't had any issues with it (and neither have my friends), but if it's your first time using a clear formula I'd go lighter on the application.

Where the Saltyface Tanning Water Is Available
