The US Special Envoy for Syria, Thomas Barrack, welcomed the return of the Syrian-American company “Tecore Networks” to operate in Syria.

He announced in a post on the “X” platform today, Wednesday, June 18, that the company has resumed its operations in Syria following the decision to lift US sanctions on Syria.

Barrack stated that rebuilding the telecommunications infrastructure in Syria is “crucial.”

This is to help all Syrians benefit from the regeneration and rejuvenation of their historical culture, according to the envoy.

“Tecore Networks” is an American company specializing in advanced wireless network infrastructure solutions, founded by Syrian-born businessman, Jihad Salkini, who currently serves as the company’s CEO.

Established in 1991, the company provides innovative and scalable wireless infrastructure solutions and has become a key provider for commercial, governmental, and military markets.

The founder of the company, Jihad Salkini, also serves as a board member of the American-Syrian Business Council, which began its work as an independent, non-profit, non-political organization based in the American capital, with support and encouragement from the Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal al-Shaar, on June 14.

Salkini stated in the founding statement of the council that “FSN Telecom,” which he also heads, was the first American company to launch “4G” and “5G” services in northern Syria, contributing to building a modern telecommunications future in Syria. He expressed hope that this step, along with the efforts of the American-Syrian Business Council, would form the cornerstone of a fruitful and solid strategic partnership between Syria and the United States, benefiting both peoples.

The council stated in a statement published on its website that its establishment comes after a constructive meeting that brought Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa together with US President Donald Trump, and the official announcement regarding the commencement of lifting the economic sanctions imposed on Syria.

It stated that “its establishment comes at a pivotal moment, to serve as an active platform for building economic and commercial ties between Syria and the United States, facilitating the exchange of expertise, and providing insights for companies and investors, contributing to the support of reconstruction efforts and achieving sustainable economic development in Syria after years of tremendous challenges.”

In the upcoming phase, the council will work on organizing trade delegations and investment conferences between the two countries, according to the statement. It will also provide guidance services for investors regarding available opportunities, legal and tax systems, and export and import requirements, in coordination with chambers of commerce.

The American-Syrian Business Council consists of a board of directors and an advisory board comprising a selection of experts in the fields of commerce, law, taxes, industry, and technology, in addition to a dedicated executive team, according to the council’s statement.
