The Oklahoma City Thunder never cared what people said about them.
And now they are just one win away from hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
Jalen Williams and the Thunder are one win away from winning the NBA titleGettyThey were the subject of criticism and outside noise during their historic regular season campaign.
Corny, immature, not ready for the moment.
They didn’t care what people had to say about them, not even if it was Draymond Green.
The Thunder just kept winning and winning, all the way to the Finals.
The four-time champion, and noted instigator, took to his podcast, The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, and called out the budding Thunder core for their postgame interviews early this year.
“The one thing I see about the OKC team that’s alarming to me is their postgame,” Green said.
“Seven guys in the interview. There’s a certain seriousness it takes to win in this league.
“And there’s a certain fear you have to instill in teams in order to win. I just don’t know if they’re instilling that fear in teams with all the bromance and stuff after the game.”
After wins, the Thunder all huddle around the one guy who is being interviewed on the court, and hype them up, and ‘bro-out’ with one another.
Jalen Williams, who has been dubbed as the unofficial ring leader of the postgame hang, told OKCThunderWire, he wasn’t aware of Green’s comments at the time, but shrugged them off.
The Thunder have been themselves unapologetically all season longGetty Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the regular season MVP this seasonGetty“We’re just concerned about what’s going on here and everything else kinda takes care of itself,” Williams said.
“I feel like it’s kinda weird to have a strong opinion on it. But again, we’re just so locked on what we have going on here.
“That’s just how we come together as a team.”
Green could not have been more mistaken.
Star point guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, was the league’s MVP and took his game to another level, while the cast of Chet Holmgren, Lu Dort and Williams have blossomed together.
Clearly Williams and company weren’t paying much attention to Green and his ‘mind games’ then, and certainly not now.

Green tried planting the seeds of doubt way ahead of time.
He is after all, the ultimate master manipulator and instigator.
It was a swing and a miss, and now the Thunder are one win away against the Pacers from bringing Oklahoma City its first championship (no, Seattle doesn’t count).
As Williams put it, they’re just concerned with what’s going on with them and not paying attention to anyone else.
