Former India international Siddharth Kaul has registered himself for the Big Bash League Draft set for Thursday. Kaul is the only Indian male cricketer to register for the draft, which has more than 600 players. The 35-year-old retired from international cricket last year, and his last IPL game came way back in the 2022 season.
Siddharth Kaul registers for BBL 2025 draft
Former RCB pacer Siddharth Kaul has registered for the upcoming Big Bash League Draft. The 35-year-old, once teammates with Virat Kohli, is the only Indian to have registered for Australia’s premier T20 competition. Kaul has played 55 games in the IPL, picking up 58 wickets across 8 seasons.
He enjoyed a productive spell at Sunrisers Hyderabad, picking up 37 wickets in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He even made his international debut, playing 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. A death overs specialist, Kaul last played for RCB, playing just a solitary game in the 2022 season.
Indian players are not allowed to feature in overseas leagues unless they retire from Indian cricket all together. He featured for Punjab in domestic cricket, helping them win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2023-24. He retired from all forms with a view to playing overseas.
Formerly, Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan have retired and then featured in the ILT20 in the UAE. Alongside BBL, Kaul would be open to featuring in the MLC or the Legends League cricket. Last year, he featured for the Northants in County Cricket.
“I feel I still have 3-4 years of cricket left in me. Hopefully going forward, whatever opportunities arise, like in county cricket, or Legends League, MLC etc, I’d like to explore them if I get the chance,” Kaul told ESPNCricinfo in November last year.
The BBL draft takes place on Thursday, June 19. Alongside Kaul, the likes of Babar Azam, James Anderson and Jofra Archer are all part of the draft.
