Giza begins drive to reduce energy consumption ...Egypt

The Giza Governorate has launched an extensive public awareness campaign title “#YourConsumption_MatchesYourNeed,” aiming to boost community awareness about the importance of energy rationalization and promote positive behavior in electricity use.

Governor of Giza, Adel al-Naggar, affirmed that the campaign is part of a comprehensive national plan to tackle current energy challenges.

He noted that the governorate immediately began implementing the following measures:

Reducing street and road lighting by 60 percent without compromising safety or traffic security. Disconnecting electricity and appliances in government buildings daily starting at eight pm. Prohibiting the illumination of street billboards between nine pm and midnight. Enforcing closing times for commercial shops and malls in accordance with Cabinet decrees. Decreasing general lighting in public squares, event halls, and some shops during daylight hours, while ensuring air conditioning units are turned off before leaving offices.
