Explore how BENFEI’s affordable lineup of tech accessories holds up in real-world use, from charging and connectivity to streaming and device sharing.
Good accessories can be hard to find. Since there are so many accessories makers out there, it can be difficult to determine which ones are ok and which ones might end up causing damage to your devices. I have a short list of third-party manufacturers that I trust and I have a new one I’m trying out — BENFEI.
About Benfei

Best known for its wide range of USB hubs, adapters, switches, and video capture devices, the company has built a strong presence on Amazon by offering reliable, affordable alternatives to bigger-name competitors like Anker, Ugreen, and Belkin.
BENFEI’s product catalog supports a broad spectrum of devices—from smartphones and tablets to gaming consoles and computers—making it a versatile choice for everyday users, remote professionals, and content creators alike. With a focus on practical design and plug-and-play functionality, Benfei aims to deliver accessible tech tools that simplify how people connect and create.
BENFEI Product Spotlight
I have been lucky enough to work with several of Benfei’s products, which I have outlined below. I’m excited to provide my initial impressions on each of these items.
BENFEI USB-A to USB-C Adapter
Price: $9.99 $8.99
This adapter was designed to provide a simple, effective way to bridge the gap between newer USB-C devices and older USB-A ports. It offers fast data speeds and charging capabilities along with portable convenience. The adapter comes in a 2-pack and is pre-attached to a keychain.
To test this adapter out, I plugged in a USB-C charging cable to the USB-C port on the adapter. Then I plugged the adapter into a power adapter to see if it would charge my iPad Pro. It connected easily and my iPad did gain a charge from it. I also noticed that the adapter got a bit warm while charging the iPad.
Then, I plugged a USB-C flash drive into it and used Blackmagic Disk Speed Test to see how fast data would transfer using the adapter. I got a result of 663.8 MB/s WRITE and 364.7 MB/s READ. When I previously tested the same flash drive, with a direct USB-C connection to the computer, I got a result of 882.2 MB/s WRITE and 1575.3 MB/s READ. So, the adapter provides fast data transfer, but not as fast as a native connection.
BENFEI 20W GaN Fast Charger
Price: $9.99 $8.99
This charger offers a fast, compact option for charging modern USB-powered devices. It has a USB-C and USB-A port on one side of it with a NEMA 1-15 two-prong plug on the other side. One of the things I don’t like about this adapter is that the prongs are not foldable. To me, that automatically makes it less travel-ready. The adapter did, however come with a USB-C to USB-C 60W charging cable that is braided, which is rare.
To test the fast charger, I plugged the provided cable into the adapter and my iPad Pro with a USB tester in between the two. The tester showed a peak wattage output of 19.25W. It didn’t seem as though the adapter warmed up too much.
It’s not a bad option for a compact, but powerful charging adapter. I don’t have too many that are as high-powered as this one with two different USB ports on it. For the cost, it’s a good value.
USB-C 6-in-1 Multifunctional Hub
Price: $21.99
Multifunctional hubs have been a necessity for me in the past several years. Since I have a MacBook as my daily-driver computer, I need the additional connectivity options. This hub provides up to 4K@60Hz video output, 100W power delivery, and USB 3.2 connectivity through both USB-C and USB-A connections.
The first aspect of this hub I tested was the power delivery. First I plugged it into a MacBook Pro along with a 140W power adapter from Anker. This particular adapter provides a readout of the power output for its different ports. The only thing I plugged in was the MacBook Pro and the output fluctuated between 2W and 31W. I never saw it get any higher than that. I was using a StarTech USB4 cable that is capable of 240W of power delivery. I switched to my iPad Pro and again, the highest power output I saw was 34W. So while the hub does deliver power, it seems as though it’s inconsistent with the output wattage.
Next, I tested the data transfer speeds. Using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test again, I ran a READ/WRITE speed test with a USB flash drive. The flash drive I’m using is the SanDisk Extreme PRO Dual Drive, which has USB-C on one end and USB-A on the other. Here are the results.
WRITEREADUSB-C735.3 MB/s372.8 MB/sUSB-A782.5 MB/s371.0 MB/sFinally, I used the hub to connect my iPad Pro to an external monitor. It worked really well and I confirmed that it was providing a 60Hz refresh rate at 2K. Overall, it seems like a decent adapter, but I do have concerns about the way it provides power delivery.
BENFEI USB-C Video/Audio Capture Card
Price: $25.99
This capture card is a plug-and-play device designed to capture high-quality video and audio from USB-C sources like the iPhone 15/16, iPad, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, and other compatible devices. It supports input up to 4K at 30Hz and captures at 1080p 60fps with ultra-low latency, making it ideal for streaming, recording, or live presentations. The built-in USB-C Power Delivery passthrough allows users to keep their device charged while in use, and its compatibility with OBS, Zoom, and other major platforms makes it a versatile tool for content creators, educators, and remote professionals.
When it comes to testing, I connected the capture card to my MacBook PRo and then to my iPhone. When I opened QuickTime, it recognized the capture card as a video source and mirrored my iPhone screen in QuickTime. It was that easy. I like that it doesn’t require any special software to work and you can use the capture card with a variety of video recording sources. It’s easy to use and seems to work well.
BENFEI USB 3.0 Switch
Price: $19.99 $16.99
This handy little device makes it possible for you to use your USB-A peripherals with multiple host devices. This way, you don’t have to swap cables between multiple computers and/or tablets. You just plug your peripherals into the box and each computer in to it, and then hit the switch button so the devices recognize the host device you want to use.
The switch has a total of four input ports – 3 x USB-A and 1 x USB-C. The host devices connect via USB-A and the remote button connects to the box with Micro USB. The switcher does have to be connected separately to power through USB-C (on the same side as the host device ports).
The switch worked as it should. It was reliable for me when I used it with a keyboard, mouse, and webcam between my two MacBook Pros. Since my host computers are both laptops, my setup might be different than some users. The remote worked well out of the box, but I didn’t like that it was using Micro USB over USB-C. I’m also not a fan that the switch needed its own power source. It’s a simple switch that should work in most cases.
