Multiple reports claim Kolarov will leave his role as Serbia’s Under-21 squad to form part of new Inter boss Cristian Chivu’s backroom staff.
Ex-Romania international Chivu was confirmed as Simone Inzaghi’s replacement on Monday after the latter departed for Saudi club Al Hilal.
It was a bold appointment from the Champions League finalists given Chivu has just 13 games as a manager under his belt.
Chivu, who made nearly 170 appearances for Inter as a player, was previously at fellow Serie A side Parma and finished with three wins, seven draws and three defeats.
But now he has moved to Inter on a two-year contract and will be aided by Kolarov.
Although it has not been officially announced, Kolarov has all-but confirmed the deal to Serbian publication Mozzart Sport.
“I have accepted a sudden, but for me, very significant offer to become the first assistant coach at Inter,” Kolarov said.
“It’s one of the most prestigious clubs in Europe.
“This decision was not easy, as I began my coaching career with great dedication and pride on the bench of Serbia’s Under-21 national team.
