The former gymnast appeared in court on Tuesday and described her actions as “completely unacceptable.”

According to police, the Los Angeles 1984 star was found in a parking lot with a bottle of wine on her passenger seat.

The 57-year-old allegedly refused to have her blood tested for alcohol.

She entered a no contest plea in court and was given a $100 fine.

“I take full responsibility for my actions,” she told PEOPLE after the hearing.

Retton also issued a statement through attorney Edmund J. Rollo.

It read, “What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses.

“To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry.

“I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life.

“I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support.”

She also asked for privacy as she tries to move on with her life.

Retton is best known for winning gold in the all-around competition at the 1984 Olympic Games.

She was the first gymnast from outside of Eastern Europe to win the event in Olympic history.

And she won two silvers and two bronze medals at the same Olympics.

Retton was also a three-time all-around American Cup champion from 1983 to 1985.

After gymnastics, she appeared on popular shows Baywatch and Dancing With The Stars.

Retton’s acting credits include an appearance in the 1994 flick Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, and the series Dream On and Buddy Faro.

And the ex-gymnast even appeared in a breakfast cereal commercial.

Retton was left fighting for her life after contracting pneumonia in 2023.

“I’m so grateful to be here,” she said in an interview with Today.

“I am blessed to be here because there was a time when they were about to put me on life support.”
