WARREN — A Warren woman has been indicted in an Oct. 29 crash that killed a Cortland man.

Britni Ulam, 35, of Ohio Avenue, formerly of Niles, was indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence.

According to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ulam and Frank Walter, 31, were in a 2006 Nissan XTerra SUV just before 2 a.m. Oct. 29 when it traveled off the side of the road, struck a culvert, overturned and crossed back over the road before traveling down an embankment. The patrol said neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt and both victims were thrown from the vehicle. Alcohol and speed both contributed to the crash, the patrol report stated.

As police and rescue personnel were responding to the crash, a southbound 2014 Nissan Altima driven by a Niles woman struck Walter, killing him. Ulam and Walter both sustained serious injuries in the first crash.
