The Florida Panthers struck early and often in a tension-filled Game 3.

Sam Bennett scored his playoff-leading 14th goal as the Panthers beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-1 to take a 2-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final.

Brad Marchand wasted no time getting his side on the board, opening the scoring just 56 seconds into the contest. With the goal, Marchand became the oldest player to score in the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final, per Sportsnet Stats.

The Panthers chased Oilers starting goaltender Stuart Skinner when Aaron Ekblad scored the team’s fifth goal on 23 shots. Calvin Pickard entered the game in relief and allowed one goal on eight shots.

Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe and Evan Rodrigues also scored, while Eetu Luostarinen added two assists.

Tensions came to a head midway through the third period when Oilers forward Trent Frederic went after Bennett, triggering a line brawl that ended the nights of Frederic, Bennett, Mattias Ekholm, Jonah Gadjovic and Darnell Nurse early. There were 138 combined penalty minutes.

The Oilers have the chance to even the series in Game 4 on Thursday.
