Alabama has made a big pickup for its 2026 recruiting class. Sam Utu is the newest member to commit to play for Kalen DeBoer‘s program. The blue-chip lineman joined the class on Monday, fresh off a weekend visit.
Out of Orange (California) Lutheran High School, Utu is listed as measuring 6-4 and 330 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Utu is rated 4-stars, the No. 11 interior offensive lineman, No. 19 player in the state of California and No. 176 prospect overall in the Class of 2026.
Utu drew interest from coast to coast during his recruitment, picking up scholarship offers from 28 programs. Utu told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he chose Alabama over Washington, Texas, SMU and Tennessee. Utu had planned visits to Knoxville and Austin, but has decided to shut things down after his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
