The Dallas Mavericks appear to have already made their decision.
But NBA fans for 29 other teams are hoping for a draft-day miracle.
Cooper Flagg is getting closer to joining the NBAGettyFormer Duke star Cooper Flagg is widely expected to become the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 draft on June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
A key upcoming date could officially link the Mavs with Flagg.
“Cooper Flagg plans to have a private visit with the Mavericks in Dallas on June 17, sources tell ESPN,” Shams Charania tweeted.
ESPN also reported that the Mavs don’t plan to work out any other prospects for their No. 1 overall pick, which fell into their hands despite only holding a 1.8 percent chance in the lottery of obtaining that selection.
Dallas jumped up 10 spots, and acquired the top pick months after a highly controversial trade that sent former franchise face Luka Doncic to LeBron James‘ Los Angeles Lakers.
The Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs were all hoping to take Flagg with the No. 1 pick.
With the leak of Flagg’s private workout, Dallas is expected to select Flagg unless something stunning happens between June 17 and 25.
But fans are still hoping — and joking — that Flagg will soon join their favorite teams.
“No, he’s a Wizard,” one fan tweeted.
“He’s asking for a trade to the Warriors,” a second fan wrote.

“Cooper Flagg to the Lakers for three No. 1s and Dalton Knecht,” a fourth fan said.
Other fans got a kick out of a ‘private visit’ being leaked to millions on social media.
“Doesn’t sound very private to me,” a fan tweeted.
Flagg, 18, is coming off a superb freshman season with Duke that ended in the NCAA men’s tournament semifinals.
He averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists, while leading the Blue Devils to a 35-4 record.

“When I see somebody like Cooper Flagg, when the physical gifts are there and the IQ is there … that’s what makes him so good,” Houston Cougars assistant coach K.C. Beard exclusively told talkSPORT.
“It’s his ability to lead them in assists. And then late in the game, he knows when to take over. He’s got such a great feel for both sides of that.”
There was early talk after the draft lottery that the Mavs would be open to trading the No. 1 pick.
But with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving already in uniform, Dallas can become a Western Conference contender — and immediately rehabilitate the tarnished image of Mavs general manager Nico Harrison.
“I’m in LA right now and Cooper Flagg is out there,” veteran NBA point guard Chris Paul said on the Pat McAfee Show.
“I’ve been in the gym with him a couple times and he’s as advertised. The Mavs getting the No. 1 pick is crazy.”
Unless they blow up social media and trade it away after Flagg’s upcoming private workout.
With Flagg in uniform, a Mavericks franchise valued at $4.7 billion could eventually add another $1bn to its worth if the former Duke star becomes an annual All-NBA selection.
“One NBA executive estimated privately in recent weeks that winning the draft lottery would be worth a minimum of $500 million and maybe up to $1 billion for one lucky franchise,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted.
“The Mavericks just won the lottery, literally.”
While Dallas prepares for Flagg, the Oklahoma City Thunder will head to Indiana with the NBA Finals tied at 1-1.
