Georgia added 2 potentially big additions to its pitching staff for next season out of the transfer portal on Saturday, and both of them are coming from the West Coast.
Former USC weekend starter Caden Aoki and ex-Stanford right-hander Matt Scott have both committed to play for Georgia in 2026.
Aoki, who is also a right-hander, had a 3.99 ERA this past season with 90 strikeouts and just 14 walks in 97 innings for the Trojans. Aoki and USC were eliminated in last week’s regionals by Oregon State. His commitment was reported by D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.
TRANSFER NEWS: @BaseballUGA landed a big-time portal commitment in former #USC weekend starter and RHP Caden Aoki, I'm told. Aoki had a 3.99 ERA in 2025 with 90 strikeouts and 14 walks in 97 innings. Profile: t.co/hOkSyPc9wQPortal: t.co/ptcTrU3pVy pic.twitter.com/x7qb06h7nY
— Kendall Rogers (@KendallRogers) June 7, 2025The 6-foot, 185-pound Aoki began his collegiate career at Notre Dame in 2022. He didn’t win a game that season but posted a 3.86 ERA. Aoki then combined to go 12-10 over the next 3 seasons at USC. He holds a career 3.72 ERA over his 4 college seasons.
Meanwhile, Scott announced his commitment to head across the country as well for the 2026 season on his Instagram account.
Scott has 1 season of eligibility as he leaves Palo Alto for Athens. He’ll hope for better results in 2026 than he had in 2025, when Scott finished with a 6.02 ERA in 52.1 innings. Opposing hitters had 67 hits against Scott, whose strikeout totals were also way down. After recording triple-digit strikeouts in 2023, Scott only had 56 strikeouts last season.
Georgia hopes that Aoki and Scott can provide some stability and needed depth for its staff in 2026.
