EVERYONE loves a dupe.
Especially when it’s a dupe of something as popular as the Quest protein bars.
CostcoCostco’s Kirkland Signature bars are a dupe for the Quest bars[/caption] QuestThe Kirkland bars work out at $1.36 each, while the Quest ones can be anything up to $2.88 per bar[/caption] GettyCostco is known for its amazing dupes and bulk buy deals[/caption]So fans might want to head to their nearest Costco, as the store’s Kirkland Signature protein bars are more than a little similar to the originals.
In fact, some of the Kirkland bars are virtually identical to the Quest ones in their nutritional make-up.
The chocolate brownie flavour, for example, have exactly the same amount of sugar in the Quest and Kirkland bars, while the latter has just 1g more of protein.
They also have similar ratios of carbohydrates and fiber.
The chocolate chip cookie dough bars are also incredibly similar – they’re both made from whey protein, and contain 21g of protein each.
However, the Quest bar has 1g of sugar, while the Kirkland one has two.
But the biggest difference between the two bars is the price.
A Quest bar will set you back between $2 and $2.88, while the Kirkland bars are sold in a box of 20 for $26.49 – $1.36 per bar.
Reviews of the Kirkland Signature bars are also generally positive, although people do say that they can take some getting used to.
“I buy all 4 kinds and they grow on a person,” one wrote.
“Nothing else gives the same amount for protein without all the extra sugar.
“I used to buy Built Bars but they taste like really squishy fake sugar candy bars.”
“I find them way more palatable than other protein bars with comparable amounts of protein,” another said in a post on Reddit.
“I find that they’re much better if I stick them in the fridge or freezer for a couple of minutes.
“It toughens them up and makes the texture less playdoh-like.”
“They’re fine for a protein boost, low in sugar, decent calorie count, and high in fiber,” a third wrote.
Costco classic food court items
Hot Dog with Soda – $1.50 Pepperoni or Cheese Pizza slice – $1.99 Rotisserie Chicken Caesar Salad – $6.99 Turkey and Swiss Sandwich – $6.99 Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie – $2.49“Obviously, compared to a candy bar or a bakery item, they don’t taste THAT great, but that’s the nature of a protein supplement!
“There’s no protein bar that tastes super amazing to me, so at the level of flavor and texture you can expect from a protein bar, they rate pretty high for me.”
