AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) -- Police in Aurora said tips from the community helped investigators identify the 14-year-old boy who is accused of fatally shooting a 15-year-old girl and injuring two others over the weekend.
The Aurora Police Department released a video Thursday, the day after the arrest, showing an altercation between a group of girls fighting moments before the shooting happened.

He was arrested just four days after the crime in Colorado Springs on an unrelated motor vehicle theft warrant.
He is not being identified because he is a minor.
“If I would give any message to juveniles, it's please not partake in this. Please don’t go to these pop-up parties," said Mark Hildebrand, chief of APD’s Investigations Division. "Find other ways to have fun and hang out with friends. Every time these things are occurring, we see it time and time again, they end poorly.”
Aurora police sent out this plea to the community after the tragedy.
“To our community, I hope this is shocking," said Hildebrand.
He is referring to the video taken moments before police say the suspect fired multiple rounds into the crowd full of girls
“We believe there was a pop-up party on social media that happened in Denver, that party relocated from Denver to the location on Hoffman Boulevard," said Hildebrand.
The shooting happened just after midnight on Sunday, June 1, near a fire station near East Hoffman Boulevard.
Police said two firefighters found two victims and tried to help. A 15-year-old girl died from injuries at a local hospital. Two other victims were injured but are expected to be OK.

Hildebrand said, “It’s unconscionable to think that a 14-year-old would have access to two firearms and then make the conscience decision to use them against a group of people and end up murdering a 15-year-old in the process."
Police sent their condolences to the victim's family, calling what happened a tragedy.
“We as a community need to stand up and start taking accountability for this and start holding those accountable for allowing this to occur," said Hildebrand. "It's okay for our juveniles to go out after hours.”
Police said it's important that parents are aware of what their kids are doing and discourage them from going to the pop-up parties.
1 dead after police on scene with possibly armed man in BroomfieldInvestigators are still working to learn how the 14-year-old obtained the firearms. They said when dealing with a situation like this, it's likely that there will be additional arrests.
The 14-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a handgun.
The suspect will ultimately be transferred to the Arapahoe County Jail to face charges in Arapahoe Juvenile Court. Formal charges are expected to be filed by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
