Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said the dramatic fallout between President Trump and his former special adviser, Elon Musk, is "incredibly unfortunate" after the two had a heated public exchange via social media posts on Thursday.
During a Thursday interview with Sean Hannity on his Fox News show "Hannity," Cruz expressed his disappointment over the feud, which began with Musk criticizing Trump's “big, beautiful” spending bill, but turned personal after Trump called Musk "crazy" and Musk alleged that files on the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein were being kept secret to protect Trump. Musk eventually even backed a suggestion for the president's impeachment.
"I think it's incredibly unfortunate," Cruz said when asked by Hannity about Trump and Musk's public quarrel. "You and I are both good friends with President Trump, and we're both good friends with Elon Musk. They're both extraordinary men, and they've both done extraordinary things for our country."
Cruz also praised the two men, calling Musk an "incredible inventor" and hailing his work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He also praised Trump for his "phenomenal work every single day."
"It's obvious they're both pissed off right now," Cruz said. "I hope that both of them come back together, because when the two of them are working together, we'll get a lot more done for America than when they're at cross purposes."
Cruz also noted that he thinks both Musk and Trump are correct.
"I've got to say, on the merits, I think both of them are right," the Texas senator continued. "President Trump is absolutely right. We have to get this one big, beautiful bill passed, and we're going to, but Elon is absolutely right that we need to make the bill better."
The bill is currently losing momentum in the Senate amid Musk's attacks and criticism from certain conservatives.
