Fox News host Greg Gutfeld asked President Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk to end their escalating feud that broke out in public on Thursday, saying it is detrimental to the United States and could provide an opening that Democrats can capitalize on.
“I think what you're seeing is a battle between the purist and the pragmatist. I don't like it. I want it to stop. I want to tell them, if they're both watching, ‘Knock it off.’ We're done with this. This is an incredible moment for our country. It's awake, it's optimistic, it's on board with the golden age,” Gutfeld said while co-hosting Fox News’s “The Five” on Thursday.
“Don't sabotage it with the self-inflicted feud. You know, don't let, don't let the Dems get back up from the floor where they belong,” Gutfeld added.
The clash between Trump and Musk, his close ally, intensified on Thursday, reaching new heights when Musk alleged that the president has ties to convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted. The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement on Thursday.
Since leaving the federal government on Friday, as his special government employee tenure ran out, Musk has strongly criticized Trump’s legislative agenda currently moving through Congress.
Trump told reporters earlier on Thursday, during his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House, that he is “very surprised” and “very disappointed” in Musk, who has slammed the massive spending bill.
In response, Musk argued that Trump would not have won the 2024 presidential election, that Republicans would have lost their majority in the House, and that the GOP would have failed to capture the majority in the Senate without the tech billionaire’s contributions during the election cycle.
“I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given,” the president said in a Truth Social post after Musk made the Epstein accusation against Trump.
“If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that,” the commander in chief added. “I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness.”
