During an episode of the Not Gonna Lie podcast with Kylie Kelce published Thursday, June 5, the television personality, 26, opened up about doctors dismissing her pain before her endometriosis diagnosis.
"Yeah," Irwin said. "I can't tell you how mad that makes me, because it's like, the epitome of us falling short when it comes to women's health."
She added that some doctors questioned her mental state, telling her to practice meditation or drink a cup of tea in the evenings.
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue that normally lines the uterus grows in other parts of the body causing inflammation, pain, and other symptoms. Before her diagnosis, experienced agonizing pain during her menstrual cycle as well as nausea and fatigue.
"It actually wasn't until I had our daughter that I just plummeted, like the snowball effect. It got so much worse." she explained. "I would just lay on the floor because I couldn't move. And it was so jarring, because I wanted to be there for our daughter, but I was just so sick."
In May, Irwin had another surgery to treat her condition, having 14 lesions removed while undergoing an appendectomy and hernia repair.
"It's not normal to be in pain. That's why I'm so vocal about my journey now, is because so many people are living in agony, and nobody deserves to feel like that." she said. "Everybody deserves to have proper health care and to have a diagnosis for their pain and not be dismissed."
