Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife plans memoir on Sutton Foster drama: report ...Middle East

Hugh Jackman may have more reasons to be “extremely disappointed” by Deborra-Lee Furness’s increasingly public anger about their pending divorce.

Furness, 69, is reportedly planning to release a “no-holds-barred” “divorce diary” that will detail what she herself has described as the “traumatic journey of betrayal” she’s endured since she and the “Wolverine” actor split after 27 years of marriage, according to the Daily Mail.

If this diary indeed exists, it would likely include Furness’s feelings about learning that Jackman, 56, had become romantically involved with his Broadway co-star Sutton Foster, possibly before she and Jackman had announced their separation. A report in November said that Furness was “blindsided” by the news of her husband’s relationship with Foster, 50.

“Deb’s been desperate to have her side of the story out there,” a source Woman’s Day magazine.

“She’s been writing down all her thoughts, the good and the bad, and logging every detail of this ugly roller-coaster divorce,” the source also said. “As soon as her lawyers allow it, she will be talking to publishers about a deal.”

The report about Furness’ memoir plans come after the Australian actress officially filed divorce papers and ended her silence about the breakup by issuing a blistering, angry statement about what she has experienced over the past several years.

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness said in a statement to the Daily Mail last week.

“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us,” Furness continued. She said this belief has helped her “navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.”

She concluded by saying that she had gained “much knowledge and wisdom” through adversity, leading her to realize her “true purpose.”

“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” Furness said.

In speaking out in such a way, Furness let the world know that her divorce from Jackman has not been as amicable as the couple initially tried to portray it.  When they announced their separation in September 2023, the couple, who met while working together in Australia, said that they had been “blessed” to share “almost three decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage.”

They also spun their separation as a mutual decision based on “gratitude, love and kindness” and a desire “to pursue our individual growth.”

Now, nearly two years later, it has become apparent that Furness looks at the end of her marriage much differently.

“Clearly she’s frustrated and it’s rare for her to take a step like this, but it’s aggravating to have no voice while Hugh can do whatever he wants,” the Woman’s Day source said.

But according to the Daily Mail, Jackman was “extremely disappointed” that Furness would release such a statement, calling it a breach of their “unwritten understanding” to not speak negatively about one another.

Furness might say she was “extremely disappointed” — and more — to learn that Jackman had, at some point, become romantically involved with Foster, his co-star in the hit Broadway revival of “The Music Man.”

News of the romance between the two stage and screen performers first broke in October, soon after the Tony Award-winning Foster filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, screenwriter Ted Griffin.

It’s not known when Furness found out that her husband was involved with another woman, but Us Weekly reported in October that Furness was “blindsided” by the news and that the relationship is the reason she and Jackman were getting a divorce.

“A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people,” the source also said. “Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap.”

The romance appears to have started as a friendship that developed when Jackman and Foster worked together on the classic musical comedy, which ran on Broadway from early 2022 to early 2023. The show is set in small-town America at the turn of the 20th century. His conman and her librarian fall in love through a series of music and dance numbers.

As Jackman and Foster promoted the show, they didn’t hide their regard for each other. During a 2022 interview on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” Foster admitted that she and Jackman developed a very close bond and explained how they started a pre-performance ritual that took place when they were alone in her dressing room.

“We call it carpet chat,” Foster revealed in the interview.

Meanwhile, reports say that Furness had developed “suspicions” about  Jackman and Foster working together. The Daily Mall reported that the romance didn’t get physical while Jackman was still married to Furness, but Furness “believes they were having an emotional affair and she feels he betrayed her.”

Jackman and Foster appeared to confirm their romance in January by appearing together in paparazzi photos that could have been staged. They also were photographed together again in May, holding hands while taking a walk together in New York City. Foster also was photographed moving boxes into Jackman’s $21 million penthouse, which he purchased with Furness in 2022, according to the Daily Mail.

However, Jackman and Foster have yet to appear together at a public event or go “Instagram official,” perhaps because they are waiting for their respective divorces to become finalized. For example, Foster appeared solo on the red carpet at a Broadway awards show Sunday night.

It may not be long before Jackman and Foster can appear together at public events. Despite the bad blood between him and Furness, sources told the Daily Mail last week that the estranged couple have finally reached a settlement in how to divided up their joint $387 million fortune. All that is left now is for a judge to sign off on the divorce.
