Chipper Jones sent a pointed message on social media on Tuesday night after watching the Regional round of the NCAA Tournament over the weekend.
While Jones didn’t call anyone out by name, the Atlanta Braves legend expressed disappointment in numerous college baseball coaches. He said moving forward, he will only be watching a “select few teams” whose coaches “respect the game and their opponents and demand the same of their players.”
“Any team that doesn’t wear the uni correctly, taunts the other team, and has a coach that condones this behavior, is a disgrace to the game,” Jones wrote while giving a positive shoutout to Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall.
Here are Jones’ full thoughts on the matter:
Spent quite a bit of time watching college baseball this weekend. I will only watch a select few teams from here on out. Reason? They have coaches that respect the game and their opponents and demand the same of their players. Any team that doesn’t wear the uni correctly, taunts…
— Chipper Jones (@RealCJ10) June 4, 2025Jones’ comments appear to be a show of support for Schnall, who called out Florida coach Kevin O’Sullivan for how he treated Coastal Carolina staff and the tournament site reps before a game in Conway. O’Sullivan later apologized for the incident. Jones is a noted Florida fan, but it seems he took exception to O’Sullivan’s treatment of administrators at the Conway Regional.
While Jones didn’t name any other coaches specifically, O’Sullivan wasn’t the only coach with a major incident over the weekend. Wake Forest coach Tom Walter has been under fire this week after TV cameras caught him using a homophobic slur during an elimination game against Tennessee. Walter apologized for his “outburst” on Tuesday.
Both Florida and Wake Forest were eliminated this weekend. Super Regional action begins with 4 games on Friday.
