Southbound I-25 closed in Thornton for semitrailer crash ...Middle East

Southbound Interstate 25 was closed Wednesday morning in Thornton after a crash involving a tractor-trailer, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

As of 6:45 a.m., southbound I-25 was closed between exit 221 for 104th Avenue and exit 220 for Thornton Parkway, CDOT officials said.

CDOT cameras in the area of the crash showed emergency vehicles blocking the road and standstill traffic stretching out behind. Another camera showed the tractor-trailer stopped in the middle of the highway, fuel leaking out and pooling beneath it.

Multiple cars involved in the crash with the tractor-trailer were in the process of being towed at 6:45 a.m., the cameras showed.

Information about what caused the crash and when the highway will reopen was unavailable Wednesday morning.
