Jac Caglianone, who made his Major League debut with the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, thought he’d picked up his first career hit in his first big league at-bat.
Victor Scott II, though, had other ideas.
The Royals kicked off a 3-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, with Caglianone hitting 6th and playing as a designated hitter after getting called up to the bigs following a red-hot performance in the minor leagues. In the top of the 2nd, the former Florida star and No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft lifted a ball to right center field. And it appeared as if it’d drop down on the warning track for extra bases.
Scott, however, was able to chase it down, making the catch and colliding with the wall. Take a look at the video below:

— Underdog MLB (@UnderdogMLB) June 4, 2025That wasn’t an easy catch to make. Caglianone, for his part, probably felt that he’d hit it perfectly, but it wasn’t meant to be this time around.
Caglianone was enjoying an electric season with the Royals’ AA and AAA affiliates before being called up. Between both classes, he was batting .322 with 15 home runs and 56 RBI.
He’s now with the big club, hoping to add a spark to the Royals’ lineup.
