Urban broke out on the country music scene in the early 2000s with "Somebody Like You." Since then, he's become one of the genre's biggest stars. Urban has topped the US Country charts with "You'll Think of Me," "Days Go By," "You Look Good In My Shirt," and "Blue Ain't Your Color." He has sold millions of records and racked up numerous awards.
"Through the years of drinking and doing drugs," he said during a recent conversation with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, "I always had this very specific voice inside of me that goes, 'One day, you're going to come to a crossroads, or a fork in the road, and it'll be the final one. You're either going to choose to get out of this [explicative] or you're never going to get out of it.'"

"'That day is going come and it won't be like 'well, if you mess it up this time, there'll be a next time.' There won't be a next time," said Urban. "And you'll know when it comes. This went on for years."It was Nicole Kidman who helped Urban realize he needed to take the right path. "In 2006, when that happened, [when] my wife called an intervention on me, I knew that was it," said Keith. "I'm like, 'oh, this is that fork in the road. Here it is.'"

"It was literally like," You either get this right now, or you are never, ever going to get it right. This is your one shot," Really, it felt so obvious," Urban said on a 2020 episode of Dax Shepard'sArmchair Expertpodcast.
