Ravichandran Ashwin accuses Shreyas Iyer of stealing PBKS success credit from these 3 players ...Middle East

News by : (cricketaddictor) -

Shreyas Iyer’s name is all over the world of cricket after his epic innings of an unbeaten 87 runs in the Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Iyer’s knock helped his side chase 204 runs in an important knock-out game.

Ravichandran Ashwin picked three game-changers for the Punjab Kings other than Shreyas Iyer. Ashwin also rejected the narrative around Iyer’s brilliance and highlighted three players' names who also made an impact in the chase against the Mumbai Indians and didn’t get enough credit for their performances.

“The game-changing batter was Josh Inglis, along with Nehal Wadhera. Iyer is popular, so the credit that needs to go to Inglis and Wadhera might not end up going. But he played a 20-run over against Bumrah in the powerplay. They got Bumrah to stop the run-scoring and get a wicket. But not only did he not get a wicket, he was also hit for 20 runs. How did he do it?” Ravichandran Ashwin stated on his YouTube channel.

“Inglis scored a six against the slower ball on the leg side, then waited to hit one over third man. The moment that the slower one went for a six, Bumrah did not have any option. He had to go hard length into the pitch. That one particular over changed the tide of the game," Ravichandran Ashwin added.

Game-changers’ performance in Qualifier 2

PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh early, and Josh Inglis entered the crease in the second over and changed the pace of the innings by attacking Mumbai’s best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. Inglis smashed two fours and two sixes against Bumrah in his first over.

Wadhera scored 48 runs in 29 balls with two sixes, and he arrived on the crease in the eighth over and batted till the 16th over to ensure the victory.
